PLEASE DO NOT BITE INTO GOLF BALLS !!!!!
THANK YOU
In the past, golf balls were designated as a specific compression. The USGA decided that putting a specific compression on an entire box was misleading since each ball could be a bit different. They instructed the golf ball companies to take the compression designation off their boxes and balls. Now the boxes will say “low compression”, “more spin” or “more distance” – code words hinting at the compression of the balls. The savvy customer didn’t believe it. They would remove the ball from the box and dig their fingernails into the cover to determine the softness of the ball’s covers. They may bounce the ball on the concrete floor to assess the compression – making the ball out-of-round. And yes, bite the golf ball.
To make matters worse, the very one doing the biting, would put the ball back into the box and buy a different box! This is one of the signs we had to put up at the shop.
